Two days for the price of sleep

Hello duckies! I have no idea how I'm still awake. Oh yea I do: caffeine pills, yay!

Kids, don't do drugs unless they're sugar-laced...then that makes them fugs (fun drugs)...yay! LOL okay, all jokes aside drugs are bad and caffeine pills are drugs so...you get the picture duckies. Do not go to the campus bookstore and buy them because you have a paper you have to finish editing that's due in less than 24 hours! Woohuh!
But drugs aside, I think its a damn good paper.

It's entitled "The 'Nowadays' Feminist." With this paper (as mentioned in my earlier post) I juxtaposed Elle Woods (Legally Blonde) and Andrea Sachs (The Devil Wears Prada) and how they are the new kind of feminist. To get into specifics I discussed how beauty correlates with sexism and how it effects women in the workplace. Through Elle's and Andrea's professional journeys they both reach a point where they find themselves; and with their new found self they are able to subconsciously and overtly promote feminism.

I just emailed Naomi a copy (hey duckie) and she hasn't IMed me back yet...maybe because it's horribly fabulous. Yay! Or maybe she isn't going to read it yet lol. I want to thank you Naomi for being there from the very beginning (freshman year, my blog...Cup Noodles lol). You know I love you more than puppy poop.
(If you duckies want to read my paper I'd be more than happy to email you a copy. Shoot an email to Agardner@hartford.edu and I'll reply.)

Speaking of horribly fabulous, I called my Dad from Samantha's phone today, (thanks Sam), while she, Francis, William and I waited for our food at the Nest. (Are you ready for this duckies?)
Blackbird won't be on until...FRIDAY! AHHHHHHH!

I just looked at my calendar and I realized this upcoming Friday is the second Friday the 13th of 2009...I think lol. Anywho, my Dad said my bill a was around $500...who the fcuk has been using my phone to call Hell?!

(Sorry if this image scared you...it's just me in make-up. Oh Freshmen year. The memories.)

Anywho, as I mentioned in my previous post I received the position as a preceptor for a Freshmen class on a survey of Toni Morrison's novels. I am so excited. But more importantly I am grateful to have Professor Beckford as an instructor...because she recommended me for the position!

Professor Beckford you are one of the most precious human beings I've ever met and you're such a remarkable instructor.
(Side Note: Duckies, this is not sucking up. I am showing my gratitude. Plus I have a paper due tomorrow and in no way is it going to be graded any gracefully than the next.)
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

In other news, last night I was chatting online with Phil (he's my frikking sanity on days like this) and we discovered that we both love Batman. This isn't like "oh yeah, Batman's cool" kind of adoration. This is "if Batman were a real person we'd be stalking the Bat Cave, in our Batman PJs and matching capes" kind of obsession.

(Maybe not that much...okay I'm lying lol.)
I love you Batman!
He's my favorite superhero because he's just a mortal man who kicks a$$ like no other. Plus, he's like the only superhero who doesn't have crappy relationships, hates their life or is broke; Batman/Bruce Wayne is the man...I mean..."you the Bat, Bruce." lol

Tonight Rockstar and I will be on our radio show, "Rar-Rar w/ Rockstar and DJ Squiggz."

Our show is from 9pm to 10pm.
You can listen/watch us online (there's a live webcam in the studio) at wsam.hartford.edu or if you're lazy and you live on campus turn to Channel 5 on your TV or tune your radio (people still have those?) to 105.3FM.
We'll play those new jams you love so much and tonight the J Boys will be in the studio with us.(Check out their website: jboyswsam.webs.com) If you wanna request a song or just wanna talk to us sexy duckies the number for the station is (860) 768-4768! Call in tonight!

Okay, I've held it off long enough...let's get to some "Words of Wisdom."

"When peril tries to back you into a corner don't freeze to think: react! You are highly capable of defending yourself because you're smart, beautiful and you love yourself...so kick some a$$."

Alyssa: You have no idea how great it feels having the privilege of calling you a people-friend. I love hanging out with you, whatever you touch turns fabulous and I want you to take this day and shove some A-list cake down its throat. Happy birthday! (I wanna come to Ginza but I don't think I'll be able to go because my show starts at 9. Call me if anything...I can't call you lol.)

Molly Red: I love you and I got your back like a door has a handle. (Lol what?!)

Monica: The sandwich quote was the post you commented on lol. "The end is the best part, duh!" lol. I love you.

Jordan: Thank you for keeping me sane in the WSAM meeting last night...lol I was so over it. Thanks for being a friend.

Justin: Get ready for Group D all summer boyeeeeeee! (What? What?!)

Diamond: Thank you for the blow pop and thank you for keeping me focused last night lol. Your lesson plan is going to be fabulous!

William: Roomy! (Francis told me to do it lol) Love ya!

Alexis: I love running into you at the library and at Dialogues. Ugh, I love you.

Okay duckies, I gotta go get some lunch with Francis and William before I pass out lol.

I wish you the best of happiness. Stay true duckies.

Sass the Runway

Hola duckies! I am in the library and I can't stop looking out the window. Supposedly a snowstorm is supposed to swamp the Northeast.

Duckies, we have to believe in the snow. I know you don't want classes tomorrow nor do you favor Mondays. I need you to look out your window (or just go outside) and say:
.

Anywho, yesterday I went to the BSU Fashion Show and it was radical. The concepts behind the different scenes were so intricate and fantabulous. Here are some pictures of the glorious show.

I must admit the tardiness of the show was a bit much but I dealt with it accordingly...like this one tacky girl who sassed Graham and I upon arrival.

Duckies, I told you I was going to think positive and get front row seats. Well, Graham and I believed together and we were able to get VIP seating. (It's all about who you know duckies.) But this tacky duckie tried to stop us. There was a public line to get seating and Graham and I weren't aware of it until the tacky duckie said "You're not on the list." It wasn't what she said but how she said it that got me fired up. Then after seeing the looks on both of our faces she said "I love power." Duckies I couldn't hold it any longer. I replied:

"You don't have any power; after this show you're background noise again. And exactly who are you? You are incredibly sassy and I don't appreciate it. Do you hate your life that much that you're going to try to ruin my night? You should transfer because no one's going to like your attitude."

After I put her in her place she looked away and targeted someone else; a dear friend of mine, Keith, who happened to be chewing gum. The tacky duckie said "Stop popping your gum." Keith said something that made me laugh (can't really remember). Get it together duckie. Stop trying to suck the glamour-jazz out of everything.
(Wooohuh! Had to let that out!)

In other news, I was conversing with a duckie, Jocelyn, and she told me she admired my way of dancing. She had a fabulous idea too. Jocelyn told me I should try to teach my own dance class. I really put some thought into it and I am going to (try) to make it an official recreational course for next year.

We'll learn the choreography of hot & sassy music videos and at the end of the course we'll create our own. (I'll keep you duckies posted!)
So excited!

Okay okay, let's get to some "Words of Wisdom."

"The earlier you believe in something the more the outcome will be tailored to your vision. In order to give meaning to a belief you must have a tremendous amount of faith in yourself. Trust and believe!"

I've been hearing a lot of sass about Obama in the media lately.

Leave him alone. He is the closest thing we've got to a solution to America's ridiculous issues. You can't find flaws in perfection.

(Okay so I just looked at a guy to my right--I'm still at the library--and he said "How are you?" I replied "I'm well. How are you?" He said "I'm good," and got up from his chair. I know my face was puzzled, talking to him. He wasn't sassing me...he was just awkward. Like pedophile awkward.)

Lesley: I love you more than chocolate chip cookies.
Pete: Long live Bromance!
Graham: How can I not love you? I had a ball at the Fashion Show.
Lamarra: You looked ravishingly beautiful last night. I'm glad we were in VIP last night.
Monica: What else can I say about how much I love your everything? You're my shooting star.
Alicia: I wasn't kidding when I told you I enjoyed the show, at the Commons. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing your vision with the student body.
Rockstar: You make my life.

Okay duckies, I actually have to start my homework...even though there's going to be a blizzard tonight, (believe it duckies). I wish you the best of happiness. Stay true.

Another One Bites the Sass

Hello duckies. I am in a whirlwind right now. So much is happening and has happened within the past couple hours. Anywho, let's just dive right in.

Yesterday I found out that one of my professors has the same coat as I do.

I was sitting next to him in class and I saw his coat on the table behind us...and it was the exact same coat I was wearing! It was a tad bit smaller to accentuate his petite frame but it looked more chic in a smaller size. My personality drowns my coat, making it divine. (Woooohuh, I love my coat!)

In regards to yesterday there was a Men's Basketball game and they lost. I just don't get it. We have a strong team, everyone fulfills their place in the team's puzzle. Just because a couple players are not able to participate does not mean the puzzle should be disconnected. They need to believe in themselves.

More importantly, fans need to believe in them too. Students and ticket-holders leave right in the middle of second half and it does nothing for the team. In order for something to follow through you must be able to envelope it with confidence, pride, diligence and belief; mainly belief.
We can do this Hartford!

Anyway, before I found out my professor and I had the same coat I ran into this girl on campus. It was pretty random: I didn't know her name and she didn't know mine either. But out of this "blind conversation" she told me she abhors her Elementary Education studies she's been conducting. She's a senior now, mind you. I told her she should make a drastic change in her career path and she told me she wants to pursue Occupational Therapy (a.k.a. OT). She seemed so jaded and detached from her future, already, and I just wanted to hug her sasspression out of her.

But that would have been awkward because we didn't even know each others' names. But I do wish her the best. Follow your heart duckie.

In other news, on my way back from classes (last night) I passed this lady standing in front of a vending machine screaming "No! My M+M's are stuck!"
I looked through the vending machine glass and the M+M's were indeed stuck, one corner still latched onto the machine's distributing coil. She turns to me.

Lady: (in a demanding tone) "Help me."
Me: (puzzled) "Umm, this machine is heavy."
Lady: (unnerved) "So, help me. Shake it. My M+M's are stuck."
Me: (with hesitation) "Okay. I'll shake it I guess."

The machine was lighter than I though it to be. I was shaking it, violent. The other assorted candies danced in place while the M+M's teased us, never falling. Minutes pass and I decide to stop believing in this rude woman's plea. Miraculously, another male comes and offers her money.
Kid: "You want a dollar, ma'am? You're not gonna get your money back."

I walk away from them both. She was too sassy for me to assist her any longer.

Anywho, it's definitely time for some "Words of Wisdom."

"It's better to be late than left behind. Coming into something later than others throws you into a situation parallel to the initially planned schedule; simultaneously hindering immediate comprehension and (yet) enabling you to develop a fresh take. Don't make tardiness a habit though duckies. Just know that it's never too late to learn."

OH! In between blogging (this post) I had to release some earthiness, as we all do on a daily basis. After releasing, I discovered there wasn't any soap in the bathroom. (To think of it, there hasn't been soap in the basement bathroom this entire week!)

It's so gross, thinking about how many male duckies used the basement bathroom without washing their hands with soap. To ensure I wasn't fulfilling the stereotype I made my way to the second floor bathroom to utilize the soap there. I'm a clean duckie!

I just had a double espresso and I have to change the world today...well that's what the espresso is telling me.

(Shout-Out!)
Pete: You're aren't just important to me because of our common ground with putrid tendencies. You are adorable. You make me laugh when I'm stressed out and you have the tendency to keep me sane. Total bromance. Don't ever change. You're magnificent the way you are.

Okay duckies, I gotta run. I wish you the best of happiness. Stay true.

Gabriel Anderson
