The End?

Good morning duckies! I can't believe today is the last day of my internship. To go out with a bang, I drank a sugar-free Red Bull instead of my usual Grande Caramel Macchiatto (in a Venti cup). I feel that today is going to be spectacular. There's going to be a pizza lunch/my farewell gathering/mailing session around noon today. I'm so excited!
I had the best time working for HarperCollins. I really don't want to leave but Hartford's calling. I can really see myself working at a place like HarperCollins. Everyone is incredibly nice, there's never a dull moment, I love books, there's free coffee & sometimes free lunch...what more could you ask for?! I would love to work under Daphne and Edie again. Thank you for this beautiful opportunity!

(But it's not hard to rip your pants at work.)

I usually bring my BlackBerry with me (wherever I go) and yesterday I had to go to the bathroom. My pants were kind of tight so my BlackBerry wasn't going to fit in my pants without them ripping. I decided to put my BlackBerry on the ledge of the urinal. Seconds later, my BlackBerry fall off the ledge, sliding underneath a toilet sectional. Luckily I have a hardcore hardcover case for my BlackBerry so it was fine. I tried bending over to get my BlackBerry but it slid out of reach. I go to my knees to stretch as far as I can and...CURSSSSSSHH

my pants rip, right in the crotch seam! WTF? Honestly?! I ran to the closest office and borrowed a stapler and I "resourcefully" solved the problem. Luckily, I was wearing Long John's (eww) so I wasn't scratched on my way home.

In other news Lisa stopped by my office yesterday...

to take a picture for my school's Career Services Newsletter.

Last semester, I had an internship where I was the Student Liaison for Career Services and I had to conduct interviews with students who are advancing their prospective careers, while still in school. Now I'm a Student Success Story, yaaaaay! Thank you HarperCollins; more specifically Edie, Lisa and Daphne. As said in previous posts, Lisa helped me get an internship at HarperCollins. I'm so glad I know her!

Anywho, I'm so glad I have amazing friends. Pete is like this hardcore athlete and I hinted that I wanted him to help me with my "I-can't-look-fat-in-my-21st-birthday-pictures" diet. Being the awesome friend that he is Pete said he'd help me out, like personal trainer kind of help.

My goal is to lose 60lbs (sixty pounds) before my birthday, August 19th. If I lose more that would be incredible. I told my friend Reggie about it and he told me I'm going to look anorexic. Reggie's a model by the way lol. I'm going to go through with this workout regiment because I trust Pete's judgement. He's going to kick my a$$ but it'll all pay off in the end. Thanks Pete!

Last night I saw something so funny/nauseating. On my way home I was falling asleep on the train (as usual) and when I finally opened my eyes, I almost threw up. There was a lady, standing right in front of me, wearing a "ghetto midriff shirt." It was a "ghetto midriff shirt" because it wasn't supposed to look like that.

I don't understand how she was outside like that. Like half of her bulbous stomach was bulging from underneath her Baby Gap shirt. She didn't even look pregnant and if she was that baby was freezing. (Side note) I love it when pregnant women look glamorous, like how Charlotte looked in "Sex in the City: The Movie."

(My apologies if you haven't seen the movie yet.)

Enough with the babble, off to the quote of the day (Jan 16th):

"Starting something is only part of the journey. Being able to work through the drama of a given task and finishing it with poise takes true character. Finish with everyone wanting more."

I started talking to this guy, Valentine, and he's a breath of fresh air. He's so sassy and witty. We're going to see "The Unborn" tonight. Hopefully I won't scare him away when he has to pry my fear-stricken fingers from his arm tonight.

I wish you the best of happiness. Stay true.

No Sass Left Behind

Today was a very good day.  (I was about to type "today" again because it was such a beautiful day lol).  I wasn't sassed today; I repeat, I was NOT sassed today.  What is the world coming to?!  First the economy, then our school's late night market ran out of pickle spears, and now the sass-fountain has a drought; wtf?!  Anywho, the Men's Basketball team won tonight...aow-aow!  Go boys!  In addition, I found out that I'm getting paid for my secret job on campus soon...woohoo!  Also, one of my professors told my class that he's going to cancel our final "on account that we did so well on our papers."  (I love my life, if you haven't noticed lol.)

I wish all my professors did that because that would be delightful.  And don't give me some lame excuse like "you won't know if you learned anything this semester Gabriel."  Screw that noise!  With that time off I could learn how to drive.  I really need to get on that by the way.  What if I need to make an emergency run to Nordstrom for a sale or to the GoldRoc Diner for a greek omelet (mmm, a Greek omelet sounds so good right now).  As random as it sounds I'm watching  "Baby Mama" right now and regardless how many times I've seen it, my laughs are still fresh.

Anywho, it seems as though everyone around me is in a sour mood.  Not like a sassy mood but a sour mood, sour like sour skittles dipped in sugar and fried in diabetes...and then smeared in unicorn feces.  I think people are catching fukmylifeasitis, a condition in which college students are susceptible around finals week.  Fortunately enough I've never contracted this horrible condition.  The cure is to stay positive and do your work.  Everyone who has caught fukmylifeasitis...get over it.  Stop wallowing in your stress and take your life into your hands.

With that being said let's get to the quote for Dec 5th:
"Easy is only as you make it.  Things become difficult only when you doubt yourself.  You are the s@it, so take a big whiff."

The secret to life lies within the belief of yourself.  If you get that down the universe will have your back, that's it.  So get over your case of fukmylifeasitis and live your life.  I wish you all eternal happiness.  Stay true.

My Life on the spin cycle

Hello again.  (God, you're beautiful.)  I am back home in New York City and it's been marvelous.  I haven't really done anything thus far on my thanksgiving break.  However, laundry and cleaning house (literally) is a handful.  First, I need to share with you my feelings about coming home.  As college students know parents have the tendency to redesign your room when you're away at school.  Well in my case, my entire family has had a hand in the designs.

(this is not a picture of my actual room...but you should get the point)
My little sister's Coach sneakers and knitting material were in my room, my mother's Bloomingdales bills were on my desk, my uncle's bank statements were on my desk as well and my little sister babysits two messy children, that frequent my video game collection and bed.  This is highly unacceptable!  I don't go into their rooms and leave my belongings where I please; the nerve!

Anyway, life in the big city is as good as you make it and I'm washing clothes,  go figure.
Do you see how beautiful my city is?  It's gorgeous!
I just wanna say when I'm 26, in my loft in SoHo, approving the final manuscript layout for the next issue of Details Magazine to be published the next day (since I'll be editor-in-chief), I'm sure I won't be doing my own laundry.  I hope you all have goals and wish to achieve them sometime soon because a wasted dream is the worst thing to own.  With that being said, here is the quote for today, Nov. 24th:

"A goal's main purpose is to be achieved.  If it isn't achieved then it becomes a wasted idea.  Never lay a goal to rest because someone else might have other plans for it."

You better chase those goals until they become reality.  That's what I'm doing and I wish you all the best with your goals.  Make a million a reality.  Stay true.

Just the Clusters

Welcome back gorgeous. Sorry this blog is being posted so late. I had an extremely long day. I had an editing meeting from 12:15p-2:00p, class from 2:05p-7:25, dinner at 7:45p, I hosted my school's A Cappella Coalition (which I need to talk about) at 9:30p, then I hung out in some of my friends' rooms. Before I expand about today let me talk about what really rubbed me (I don't know which way) the previous evening.
While doing my radio show our special DJ was getting "loose" and wanted to talk about sexual experimentation. I did not want to talk about sexual experimentation on the air. Plus, Rockstar and I did not have her on the show for sex talk. From now on I'm going to look at her in a different light, like a "woah, adults aren't really that much different than us" kind of light. Whenever I see her now, I'm going to think about the wild time of the 60's and 70's.
OMG, I have a scary/unbelievable story to tell you! Well today while I was at my editing meeting, there was a sharp piece of table dangling underneath. I went to scratch my knee and the dangling piece sliced my arm. It was like a medium-deep gash. It burned like "woah!" Well I was patting it down with tissues and it wouldn't stop bleeding. Soon it started to burn. I got ordained this past summer as a reverend if you didn't know and I happened to be wearing a rosary.

(That's the rosary. You can't really see the cross in this picture but it's there. That's what I wore today to class too, isn't it nice?)

Anyway, back to the story. I thought to myself "it would be something if the cross stopped the burning." I put the cross on the cut...AND THE BURNING STOPPED AND SO DID THE BLEEDING. I was in total disbelief! I am not lying to you; I swear to you on the life of Facebook. I f#$%ing healed myself with my reverend powers. I'm a healer. I should have my own church called "Gabriel Anderson's Healing Sanctum." Ugh, I love my dreams.
(Back to today) So the other day I asked if I could host the upcoming A Cappella Coalition for my school. And since some of my good friends were organizing it, they complied; they let me host the show. However, I couldn't speak a word without them giving me looks or saying "moving on Gabriel." What the f$%k?! Isn't a host supposed to promote crowd excitement and get them amped for the showcase? Geez, I know I talk a lot but I really didn't get a chance to say anything without being interrupted. I think I'll just stick with DJ-ing my radio show with Rockstar; amateurs! (JK I love you guys but next time give me a looser leash.)
The rest of my night was pretty mellow. I'm in my room now, chatting with friends on AIM and I just ate my fourth (yes, I said fourth) bowl of Trader Joe's "Just the Clusters: Maple Pecan Granola" cereal. It's my anti-drug. (I wish I had some drugs right now! LOL, JK. Gabriel Anderson does not indulge in artificial happiness.) I just love this cereal so much. But I know my body is going to absorb this fiber real soon and I'll be blogging via toilet. (Sorry about the visual...me blogging on the toilet. Oops, I really painted the picture in your head just now, didn't I?) So before this fiber wants to break free let me give you the quote for today, Nov 21st:

"Never rely on others to make you happy. You are a strong, self-sufficient individual and if you can't make yourself happy, then others cannot. Love yourself thoroughly and happiness will ever be present."

Okay this fiber wants out. OMG...thanks for stopping by. Stay true.
