A Sassy Purpose

Hey duckies. Yesterday was a pleasantly enlightening day. During my African-American Rhetoric class, my professor asked if anyone had a blog; springing to action I shot my hand upward. She then inquired about the purpose and focal point of my blog. I responded, superficially, saying it was mainly focused on my life and what happens in a typical day. Immediately after saying this I was overwhelmed with shallowness. Was I really an arrogant narcissist begging for fifteen minutes of fame?
To clarify the purpose of my blog I wrote an email to my professor, after class:

"Hey Professor. I feel like I didn't give you an adequate description of my blog. My blog, The Sass Corner, is an appropriate portrayal of my life and my daily interaction with the world. It's focused on my life and my reflective insight on my day. At the end of my post I create inspirational quotes to enable readers to think positive, regardless of the circumstance."

Duckies, I blog because I love writing and helping people. Life is jazz; life is a jumbled compilation of beauty; life is tough and only the positive survive. Sometimes everyone needs a little reminder that we're beautiful.

As you may have noticed I do not have a hit counter on my page. At first the hit counter wasn't there because I didn't know how to install one on my blog lol. But then I realized that if I did put one here I would base my blogging off of my hits. I blog to share life lessons with the world so more people can love and appreciate this stupendous catastrophe we call life. I blog to inspire.

I blog for you duckie!
I'm glad my professor put me "on the spot" because if she hadn't I think I wouldn't have really known the true purpose of my blog. (Thank you Professor B!)

In regards to positive thinking, I recently lost the left glove of my favorite pair. (Rockstar was with me when this happened.) Upon realizing I lost a glove I said "Forget it. I'm not going to worry about it. It'll come back to me...or this is just a perfect excuse to go shopping(lol)."
So yesterday I was walking out of Auerbach Hall and I look down and there was my glove!

This glove wasn't in its cleanest state, it was lost for a week. But luckily I was on my way to my room to start my laundry.

(My glove is clean and ready to take on the world.)

Do you see what happened duckies? I thought positively about the situation instead of running around in a state of panic. When in doubt think happy thoughts.

Anywho, I think its time for some "Words of Wisdom."

"Hating something is taking the easy way out; loving something is the hard part. When you hate something you dismiss its value for insignificant whereas love takes patience, compromise and fidelity. 'Hate' is a strong word but 'love' demands characters."

OMG, I haven't given you the word of the week.

"The Word of the Week" is:
Sudge- To cast judgement onto another; to sass harshly; being a d$%k or a bi%^h.
Ex: "So what if I like getting Starbucks everyday; don't sudge me! Let me live my life."

Okay duckies, I have to start some homework that's due in less than four hours. (As said before, its not procrastination if you plan to do it later.)

I wish you the best of happiness. Stay true.

Appropriated Sass

Hello duckies. I know all is well because that's how life should be lived. A lot has happened and a lot of sass has been dished out...even by me, (I know shocker!) lol. Anywho, let's get down to business.
Remember how I did my laundry on Friday afternoon...well I finally folded and put my clothes away just now!

My clothes felt so good that it reminded me of this Robot Chicken skit. (So funny...and inappropriate. Caution: This video is appropriately inappropriate lol! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBXzFvRdGXw)

Speaking of inappropriately appropriate I dropped a class yesterday. It was my Professional Editing class.

This may not seem like a positive so let me explain. I recently finished up an internship with HarperCollins over Winter Break and I forgot to do the paperwork to enable me to get credit for it. I had no idea that I had to register for the internship as I normally would for a regular class. Since I dropped a class (leaving me with 15 credits for the semester) I have room for 3 more credits (I'm getting three credits for my internship). Ergo, I'm going to show my RPW advisor my work from my internship and I'm going to be awarded my "lost" credits. I practically did professional editing during my internship so it shouldn't be a problem, just a matter of paperwork. Yaaaaay! (Shout-out to Rockstar for dropping a class and bitching at administration too. Yea, blogger-rebels!)

In other news, this weekend was too eventful for me. (I'm so tired and my sleep clock is off.) Anywho, my A-list friends (Maria and Liza) & I decided to embark on an adventure, throughout the campus village...in the middle of the night!

Unfortunately, everyone in the village had enough common sense to be inside their respective rooms (or having one night stands in other rooms..oOoOoOo) when we decided to venture the icy terrain. However, on our return to Maria's and Liza's apartment we met some new people and conversed with friends, right outside their apartment. Sometimes the closest things are what we need.

In regards to proximity, my A-list people-friend Elle Fox landed a new job at Amy Ruth's, a chic uptown soul food restaurant. Yaaay! Anywho, guess who was there? Duckies, brace yourself...COMMON WAS THERE THE NIGHT SHE WAS HOSTING! Like WTF? A world-renown A-lister was at her job. But it wasn't the greatest experience. (Don't sass me Elle, I'm making a point because I love you.)
Well, Elle was outside smoking a cancer stick (I recently stopped so I'm in the red too) and Common said something along the lines of:

Common is A-list so that brand of sass is appropriate. He was only looking out for Elle so later on in life they could become people-friends. Yaaaay Common!

But not all celebrities are nice.

I had a dream the other night and Diddy was in it. I don't really remember what was happening but I woke up ashamed because Diddy was sassing me for no apparent reason.

Way to be a dream-jerk Diddy!

Anywho, I have a new thing I'd like to add to The Sass Corner. Sometimes I am so proud to be a student at the University of Hartford because some people dress incredibly well on campus. (Shout-out to the A-list wardrobe regulars: Rockstar, Alyssa, Graham, Monica, Gabriel Anderson-yes that was a shameless plug lol-and Bill.) I'm practicing my paparazzi skills because in order to understand them, you must become them.
I was standing in line at the local campus deli, Dialogues, and this girl had a fabulous pair of Uggs!
The "Jetsetter Look of the Week Award" goes to:
*Random hot side-zipper Ugg girl. You are a jetsetter!
(*Photo taken on my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Storm. OoOo, watch out!)
I've never seen Uggs so fabulous and full of such glamour-jazz; you go Glenn Coco!

Enough already...it's time for the quote of the day, Feb 9th &10th:

"Thinking of the worst case scenario invites the probability of catastrophe. Think of the best outcome possible and it (or something very close) will happen. Positive thinking is key."

OH! I have a bone to pick with Mommy. Well I told her to catch up with my blog entries because I gave her a birthday shout-out and she called me, right after reading it and the conversation went along the lines like:

Me: Did you love the new blog entries?
Mommy: Of course I did. Thank you so much for the shout-out!
Me: Did you read the other blog entries too; have you been keeping up?
Mommy: No, I just read my shout-out and that's it.
Me: OMG, I hate you so much that I love you.
Mommy: I love you too, Skank!

I love that woman so much. And more importantly, I love you too duckie.
I wish you the best of happiness. Stay true.

My Life on the spin cycle

Hello again.  (God, you're beautiful.)  I am back home in New York City and it's been marvelous.  I haven't really done anything thus far on my thanksgiving break.  However, laundry and cleaning house (literally) is a handful.  First, I need to share with you my feelings about coming home.  As college students know parents have the tendency to redesign your room when you're away at school.  Well in my case, my entire family has had a hand in the designs.

(this is not a picture of my actual room...but you should get the point)
My little sister's Coach sneakers and knitting material were in my room, my mother's Bloomingdales bills were on my desk, my uncle's bank statements were on my desk as well and my little sister babysits two messy children, that frequent my video game collection and bed.  This is highly unacceptable!  I don't go into their rooms and leave my belongings where I please; the nerve!

Anyway, life in the big city is as good as you make it and I'm washing clothes,  go figure.
Do you see how beautiful my city is?  It's gorgeous!
I just wanna say when I'm 26, in my loft in SoHo, approving the final manuscript layout for the next issue of Details Magazine to be published the next day (since I'll be editor-in-chief), I'm sure I won't be doing my own laundry.  I hope you all have goals and wish to achieve them sometime soon because a wasted dream is the worst thing to own.  With that being said, here is the quote for today, Nov. 24th:

"A goal's main purpose is to be achieved.  If it isn't achieved then it becomes a wasted idea.  Never lay a goal to rest because someone else might have other plans for it."

You better chase those goals until they become reality.  That's what I'm doing and I wish you all the best with your goals.  Make a million a reality.  Stay true.

Lately,
Gabriel Anderson
